Want to let customers save the products they love and come back to buy them later? SaveTo Wishlist for WooCommerce adds a wishlist to your store in minutes. This guide walks you through installing the plugin, checking the wishlist on your store, showing or hiding the wishlist total, and where to go next.
What is SaveTo Wishlist?
SaveTo Wishlist adds a modern wishlist system to your WooCommerce store. Customers can save products for later, organize them into multiple lists, share wishlists with friends and family, and quickly move saved items to the cart when they’re ready to buy.
Adding a wishlist feature helps:
- Increase conversions and repeat purchases
- Reduce cart abandonment
- Drive engagement and social sharing
- Make it easier for customers to plan purchases or gift ideas
Requirements
Before you start, make sure your site has:
- WordPress 5.8 or later
- PHP 7.4 or later
- WooCommerce 4.0 or later, installed and active
If you use SaveTo Wishlist Pro, SaveTo Wishlist Lite 1.0.8 or later must also be installed and active. Pro builds on Lite.
Step 1: Install and activate SaveTo Wishlist Lite
Install SaveTo Wishlist Lite from the WordPress.org plugin directory:
- Go to Plugins > Add Plugin in your WordPress admin (Add New Plugin on older WordPress versions).
- Search for SaveTo Wishlist Lite.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
Once activated, a new SaveTo Wishlist menu item appears in your admin sidebar.
If you use SaveTo Wishlist Pro
SaveTo Wishlist Pro builds on Lite, so install and activate Lite first (the steps above), then activate Pro. On WordPress 6.5 or later, WordPress blocks activating Pro until Lite is active. If Pro ever runs while Lite is missing or inactive, your dashboard shows this notice: “SaveTo Wishlist Pro for WooCommerce requires SaveTo Wishlist Lite to be installed and activated.”
Click the button in the notice:
- Install SaveTo Wishlist Lite appears when Lite isn’t installed yet. It downloads and installs Lite from the WordPress.org plugin directory. When the install finishes, click Activate Plugin.
- Activate SaveTo Wishlist Lite appears when Lite is installed but switched off. One click turns it on.
The notice only shows to administrators who can manage plugins. If you see a Manage Plugins button instead, your account can activate plugins but not install new ones, so the button takes you to the Plugins screen.
Step 2: Check the Save to Wishlist button on your store
Visit your shop page or any product page. The Save to Wishlist button appears there by default.

Step 3: Show or hide the wishlist total
Customers who save items with quantities can see what the whole list is worth before they click Add All to Cart. A Total line appears below the items on the wishlist page, for logged-in customers and for guests. It works the same with the [saveto_wishlist] shortcode and the wishlist block.
The total adds up the Subtotal of every item (price × quantity), across all pages of the wishlist, not only the page on screen. It uses the product’s current price, including a sale price, and the tier price for the quantity when you use the Tiered Pricing Table for WooCommerce plugin. It changes as soon as a customer changes a quantity, removes an item, or searches the list.
The total is on by default. To hide it:
- Go to SaveTo Wishlist > Settings.
- Open the Wishlist Page tab.
- Under General Options, set Show Wishlist Total to No.
- Click Save Changes.
The total leaves out these items:
- Items with no price.
- A variable product with no selected variation. A variable product with a selected variation counts at the price of that variation.
The total does not show when:
- More than 200 items match for a logged-in customer.
- SaveTo Wishlist Pro hides the Price or Subtotal column.
Developers can change the total with the stwlite_wishlist_total and stwlite_wishlist_total_html JavaScript filters. The plugin’s readme on WordPress.org describes both.

- Wishlist total: the wishlist page shows what the whole wishlist is worth, below the items.

- Custom button styles and text: adjust button design, placement, and text to match your store’s branding.
- Behavior controls: choose what happens after a customer saves an item (redirect, popup, or fade), where customers go after Add All to Cart (stay, cart, or checkout), and whether an item leaves the wishlist when it goes to the cart.
- Admin management: view, edit, or create wishlists from the backend.
- Shortcodes and blocks: display wishlists anywhere with a shortcode or a Gutenberg block.
- Developer hooks: extend SaveTo Wishlist or connect it to other systems with PHP and JavaScript hooks. SaveTo Wishlist Pro adds wishlist webhooks.

Frequently asked questions
Do I still need SaveTo Wishlist Lite if I bought Pro?
Yes. SaveTo Wishlist Pro builds on SaveTo Wishlist Lite, so both must be installed and active. Install and activate Lite first, then activate Pro. If Pro runs without Lite, it shows a notice with a button to install or activate Lite. See If you use SaveTo Wishlist Pro in Step 1.
Why does my wishlist page not show a total?
Check these points:
- Show Wishlist Total is set to Yes under SaveTo Wishlist > Settings > Wishlist Page.
- The wishlist has 200 matching items or fewer, for a logged-in customer.
- SaveTo Wishlist Pro does not hide the Price or Subtotal column.
